Vitko and Dr. Stoyanova discuss the ongoing crisis with Bai Riband's herd, the inaction of the new government, and the proposed absurd agreement for testing the animals.
The Controversial Agreement and the Refusal to Recognize Infection
The government proposes an agreement according to which Bai Riband's sheep should be used for research instead of the quarantine being fully lifted. The host and Dr. Stoyanova interpret this as an attempt to force the family to indirectly recognize the presence of plague. The owners categorically refuse to sign the document, as from the very beginning they have maintained their position that the herd is completely healthy and such an admission would lead to the culling of the animals.
Deteriorated Health Condition and Domestic Problems
The ongoing stress and institutional pressure have seriously deteriorated the health condition of Bai Riband, who is currently recovering in bed. At the same time, the animals are beginning to limp due to the inability to clean the enclosed spaces, and the family is experiencing an acute shortage of feed. During a live phone call, the livestock breeder's son shares that the local officials at the Regional Directorate for Food Safety (RDFS) in Pazardzhik know nothing at all about the agreement being prepared and have no instructions for action.
Lack of Official Documents and Legal Violations
Dr. Stoyanova draws attention to the fact that the institutions do not possess an official diagnosis and legal protocols for the receipt and transfer of the taken samples. She emphasizes the legal obligations of the responsible bodies according to European regulations, which remain unfulfilled.
- Motivated act: The RDFS has an explicit obligation to issue a motivated administrative act, on the basis of which subsequent measures are to be taken.
- Clinical picture: The institution must describe the current health condition of the sheep after the prolonged quarantine.
- Risk assessment: It is mandatory to perform an epizootic assessment regarding the danger of the disease spreading in the region.
Despite the provided evidence of the good condition of the animals, the directorate refuses to fulfill these obligations of theirs and maintains an artificial dead end.
Political Inaction and Comparisons with Other Repressions
The host expresses immense disappointment with President Rumen Radev and the Minister of Agriculture Plamen Abrovski, who take no action to release the herd despite the available documents. He compares this case to the repressions against "Historical Park" and other independent voices, accusing the new government of continuing to deliberately suffocate Bulgarian producers. The participants in the conversation are categorical that the given tolerance of 45 days to the rulers has already expired and they will continue to shed light on the problem until justice is achieved.
