Vladislav Apostolov speaks with Plamen Kanchev about the election campaign of the “Velichie” party, the court cases against him, and the need to awaken civil society.
Political Vision and Electoral Priorities of the “Velichie” Party
The “Velichie” party plans to change the model of governance in the country. The political organization aims to motivate young people to stay and develop within the country.
The candidates place the development of agriculture and energy as key priorities. The party supports the construction of the “Belene” nuclear power plant and the introduction of a permit regime for irrigation in agriculture.
These actions generate profits for the country and help improve the economy. The politicians aim to eliminate corrupt practices.
Judicial Repression and Time in Pre-trial Detention
The police detained Plamen Kanchev on November 26 last year. He spent four months in pre-trial detention based on testimony from a secret witness. The prosecution filed charges of fraud and money laundering.
Kanchev read 50 books during his time in the cell. He wrote letters to his four children every two weeks.
The court initially refused to change his measure of restraint. The magistrates made this decision under external pressure.
The Success of Collective Projects and Media Attacks
The organization builds large-scale projects such as the “Historical Park” by uniting thousands of people. These initiatives achieve higher quality with far fewer resources than state projects.
In response, the media launched large-scale defamatory campaigns. Journalists labeled the community a sect and a paramilitary formation.
Law enforcement officers believed these manipulations. Commandos from the capital were even afraid to conduct on-site inspections.
Awakening of Civil Society and Personal Responsibility
A large part of the people experience apathy and easily accept media manipulation. Plamen Kanchev calls on citizens to verify facts personally on site.
The organization uses the “Naroden” app to create a network among like-minded individuals. Members rely on communication between people to spread the truth.
The parliamentary candidate encourages people to take personal responsibility and vote in elections. This activity helps address the captured state.
