Systematic Institutional Pressure and Political Repression: The Reasons Behind "Velichie"'s Participation in the Presidential Elections

Обновена на 18.07.2026 - 23:03 от admin

In the program "Delnitsi" hosted by Nikolay Kolev, Ivelin Mihaylov describes a large-scale institutional attack against law-abiding entrepreneurs in the country and explains the decision of the "Velichie" party to participate in the upcoming presidential elections as a direct response to political corruption.

Media and Institutional Attack Against Historical Park

Ivelin Mihaylov claims that a targeted campaign is being conducted against Historical Park, which deliberately spreads fake news about the closure of the site. Media representatives openly attack the project, despite the fact that the complex is key to the development of cultural tourism in Bulgaria and even attracts the interest of Japanese tour operators. Such disinformation causes enormous economic damage by discouraging potential visitors and disrupting the normal rhythm of operation.

Although the park creates jobs, regularly pays taxes, and creates a healthy cultural environment, the state apparatus creates obstacles instead of providing support. The investor notes that he and his partners have mortgaged their own homes to finance the large-scale project. Mihaylov draws a sharp contrast between the young people raised in the park and the children of the political elite, giving as an example Orlin Aleksiev's daughter, who drove with 2 per mille alcohol in her blood.

Repression Against Law-Abiding Entrepreneurs

As a striking example of targeted institutional harassment, the entrepreneur points to the case of agricultural producer Pavel Stoimenov, who was subjected to 11 large-scale inspections over a period of 2 years. These continuous inspections involve numerous state bodies, including RIEW, Basin Directorate, Fire Department, State Agriculture Fund, and Economic Police. The investor cites the existence of a hidden recording in which former MP Mario Rangelov admits that these repressive actions were ordered directly by Delyan Peevski at the explicit request of the mayor of Simitli, Apostol Apostolov.

The main goal of these coordinated attacks is the complete destruction of Stoimenov's business, which loses enormous financial and human resources to deal with state inspections. Instead of effectively developing his farm, his team is forced to deal exclusively with organizing thousands of documents and constant consultations with accountants and lawyers. Mihaylov emphasizes the absurdity of the situation, in which legal businesses are sanctioned even for "dust on their shoes," while real problems in the country are ignored.

The Double Standard of Institutions

Mihaylov outlines a sharp contrast between the uncompromising treatment of legal businesses and the complete institutional helplessness toward specific oligarchic structures. He gives the example of the "Brikel" Thermal Power Plant in Galabovo, owned by Hristo Kovachki, where workers operate in inhumane conditions comparable to those after the Chernobyl disaster. The facility operates completely outside modern environmental standards, poisoning the soil and causing serious health problems for the local population.

Despite repeated reports, state authorities and the Minister of Energy do not dare to conduct a real inspection of the plant's territory. The mayor of Galabovo, Nikolay Tonev, directly warned Mihaylov that access to the site was impossible and attempts to enter would inevitably lead to physical confrontation with inspectors.

Characteristic Attitude Toward Law-Abiding Businesses Attitude Toward "Brikel" TPP and Oligarchy
Institutional Control 11 large-scale inspections by all possible agencies Complete lack of inspections and refusal of access
Police Actions Large-scale raids by the GDBOP and Economic Police Fear among control authorities to approach the sites
Working Conditions Compliance with laws and continuous payment of taxes Inhumane conditions and lack of environmental investments
State Attitude Sanctions for fictitious violations and systematic harassment Protection despite evidence of environmental crimes

Criminal Arbitrariness and Police Protection

The institutional double standard is particularly evident in the treatment of criminal groups compared with ordinary Bulgarian citizens. According to the investor, the police in Provadia, led by chiefs Kolev and Gabrovski, openly protect local criminal groups that beat innocent people in the village of Partizani. The victims of these brutal attacks are additionally mistreated by the police themselves, with the wife of one of the victims being hospitalized with a concussion.

Mihaylov lists several striking examples of unpunished criminal arbitrariness:

  • Illegal construction of a massive 4,000 sq.m. building in Varna by a Syrian citizen.
  • Appropriation of state bomb shelters without any subsequent sanctions whatsoever.
  • A Supreme Court of Cassation ruling requiring the mayor of Varna to pay BGN 380,000 for illegal use of properties.
  • The appointment of compromised individuals such as Manol Genov as heads of key state structures such as water and sewerage companies.

Mihaylov himself receives constant threats of arrest and physical violence, and the police have illegally taken away his personal weapon. This leaves him completely defenseless against organized crime, despite being a key witness in cases involving extremely serious crimes. The businessman shares that because of the constant harassment he cannot even provide a peaceful life and normal birthdays for his own children.

"Velichie" Party Entering the Presidential Race

The state's systematic refusal to provide a normal business environment and basic healthcare forces the "Velichie" party to take direct political action. The organization makes a final decision to nominate its presidential candidate pair in the upcoming elections in order to defend people's rights. The formation firmly states that it does not seek financial benefits or positions of power for personal gain, but solely strives to build a fair society.

To counter political silence, the party commits to publishing secret recordings every week that expose those in power for systematic corrupt practices. Mihaylov expresses strong doubts about the honesty of possible candidates from the establishment parties, mentioning rumors of a possible nomination of Delyan Dobrev by DPS. He draws a historical parallel with the government of Zhan Videnov, reminding those in power that public anger can easily escalate if abuses against businesses and ordinary people continue.
