Shareholders of “Historical Park” protest against defamation and media harassment: Defending investments and fighting for the right of reply

Historical Park: Investments and Foundation

Motivation of the Investors

The “Historical Park” project is located in the village of Neofit Rilski, 33 km from Varna. Shareholder Boris Bachev (37, from Sofia) invested in the project around 2017, seeking an opportunity for his accumulated funds “to start working” for him. Investors have put in money in different ways – some with loans, others with personal savings. Shareholders who saw hope in Bulgaria returned from abroad to develop themselves around the “Historical Park.”

The investors emphasize that the media spread claims that they were deceived, without asking them why they actually invested.

Confidence in the Team and Management

Boris Bachev made the decision to invest after visiting the site and convincing himself that serious Bulgarian historians, reenactors, and archaeologists stood behind the project. For him, it was important that the team handling the financial part of the project consisted of people with extensive experience, who had gone through many difficulties and had proven themselves in other fields.

Shareholders also point out that the State Agency for National Security (DANS) evaluated the project as a financial fraud of 70 million leva. Nevertheless, an investigation conducted by the prosecutor’s office and the relevant services established that not only was there no crime, but also that the funds were managed conscientiously.

Defense Against Accusations of Fraud and Fabrication

Refuting the “Fabrication”

The shareholders categorically reject claims that the history recreated in the park is “an absolute fabrication.” They believe that to call a project of such scale, built with genuine materials, a “fabrication” in national media is an insult not only to all shareholders and people who invested their funds, but also to all specialists who participated as consultants.

Among the specialists who participated in the project are Academician Margarita Vaklinova (rest in peace), Hitko Vachev, Ivan Marazov, and other experts from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS).

Demand for International Audit

To prove the proper management of the funds, the investors call for an international expert to assess how much it costs to build the “Historical Park.” They argue that if it is established that the project is worth much more than the money invested, this would prove that the funds were managed properly.

Criticism of Abandoned Projects

There are claims of abandoned construction sites of large complexes of houses in ancient style and buildings that were supposed to make the village look as if it belonged to the past.

Targeted Media Harassment and Defamation

Shareholders organized a protest in front of the BTV building, stating that they had been subjected to six years of harassment, to the point where relatives, parents, and partners asked them why they had invested.

Criticism of BTV

BTV journalists are accused of producing 10-minute commissioned interviews, carrying out orders from Boyko Borissov and Delyan Peevski, but not giving the right of reply to the affected parties. Protesters take this as proof that the journalists agree with Boyko Borissov’s words, calling each one of them a “turkey.” Shareholders gathered in front of BTV claim they were ignored and not given the right of reply.

Accusations Against “Capital” and Yoan Zapryanov

Journalist Yoan Zapryanov is criticized for using a post from the “Investor” forum (from ill-wishers) in his very first article about the “Historical Park,” presenting it as testimony from a non-existent person.

Shareholder Ivo Rahov, who has worked in the IT business for more than 20 years, accuses “Capital” of deliberately distorting the truth by mixing facts with small lies. Rahov points out that although in his company “Capital” was considered a serious and reliable publication, his opinion changed when he had the opportunity to verify the newspaper’s history both from the perspective of a colleague they had written about and from that of the “Historical Park.”

Furthermore, Zapryanov stated in an interview with their media that as early as after his first article in 2019, his expectation was that the project would go bankrupt.

Manipulations by Nova TV

Shareholders accuse Nova TV of manipulating information. After sending specific arguments for the right of reply, Nova TV read out a response that had nothing to do with their presence in the “Good Morning Bulgaria” program.

The media is criticized for covering the annual festival “New Beginning” on June 22, 2024 (held every year since 2019 to celebrate the park’s anniversary) as a “festival of the political party Velichie”, which is 100% false information. According to the shareholders, this was done either due to incompetence (failure to check facts) or intentionally, to negatively influence the site and divert people’s spending elsewhere, leading to financial losses for the park.

Appeals, Political Accusations, and Future Actions

Criticism of Opponents

Shareholders criticize the media for quoting people like Simon Milkov, whom they call a “wanted person” who has never set foot in the park. It is alleged that Milkov spread lies that there was a private army in the park and that a woman named Stefan Stoimenova lived there. The park’s CEO denies this, stating that only “three silicone figures” reside there and that the park has no accommodation facilities.

The same Simon Milkov is accused of teaching children in Popovo and Targovishte region to show middle fingers to police officers.

Calls for Investigations and Freedom

Shareholders call on journalists to carry out a 10-minute investigative report on current Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov (regarding his hotel with a waterfall worth several million), on Delyan Peevski’s assets in Dubai and Switzerland, and on Boyko Borissov’s assets in Manhattan and Spain.

They demand freedom for Bulgarian citizens to control their lives, funds, and their right to invest, to develop, and to unite, and not as dictated by the rulers “Borissov, Peevski, and Prokopiev.” They emphasize that they act in accordance with the Constitution, and if it does not apply to them, then they will not follow the rules either.

Plans for Lawsuits at National and International Level

Shareholders state that they will wage an “equal battle” and “resistance” against the media, “exposing them to the public.”

Further complaints and lawsuits are planned, including against Nova TV (for manipulated information) and against Lora Krumova, as well as anyone else who has violated the law. If they do not obtain justice in Bulgaria, the shareholders are ready to continue the fight at the European level, and then at an even higher international level.
